1. The Girl
The Comb slid through her Long jet-black tresses so effortlessly that it was like a living testament of the power of products, only this was natural. Equally as effortless, she tied a half-bun with the aid of the comb's tip. It was already Seven in the morning and she had to be in school in less than thirty minutes. She hurried down the flight of stairs and tossed her sling bag on an empty chair. Taking just a quick bite of her usual Egg Mayonaise Sandwich, she took a sip before making it towards the door.
"Your tea Honey!!!" .
"I'm already late Mom, gotta run. I'll be back early tonight okay.", she looked up in-between tieing her laces.
The sky was a bright tangerine orange streaked with a scarlet glow. The scent of morning dew still hung in the air. She could'nt help but notice how busy the neighbourhood was at this time of the day. Children were already in their school buses, people were rushing to work. It seemed one had to keep up or be left behind. It was no joke, public transport was literally a squeeze or wait-and-be-late thing. A car honk reminded her she was walking in the middle of the road. She nodded an apology and moved to the pavement. The bus-stop was overcrowded as always: Students, Senior Citizens , Businessmen and chirpy primary school kids. Much to her relief, the bus arrived within the minute. The journey was'nt one to look forward to though. It felt like being in a sardine can with wheels...It could'nt be helped, The price to pay for staying up late. Finally it was her stop and she had to squeeze to the exit. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath.Fresh Air again!! Adjusting her uniform, she was just about to turn when -
"Darla!"

And thoughts of you filled me with de-light.
A Blanket of light covered my heart,
The same light which blinded my eyes.
The stars remind me of a time,
When I could always find you up there......
